Directed by Feng Xiaogang, Assembly is an action-packed war movie that successfully tells a story set in a very specific time in history. Half of the story takes place in a special time and circumstance where the 9th company got better equipment, and the other half takes place in times of peace, when the protagonist Gu Zidi goes on a journey to restore the truth to what happened, and to return the honor that the brave but nameless men of the 9th company who sacrificed on the battle field rightfully deserve.

Having won awards in the Golden Rooster Awards, Golden Horse Awards and the Hong Kong Film Awards, Assembly has completed the rare feat among Chinese films of taking home a full house of awards from the most prestigious and professional film awards on both sides of the Strait.
